Where does 'Koda Construction' come from?
The Kokoda Track was the site of one of the bloodiest battles for Australian troops in WWII. In 2017, my brother Lance and I trekked through the Papua New Guinea mountains to retrace our father and grandfather's footsteps from World War 2 on the Kokoda Track. The 10 day trek covered 96km of thick jungle, difficult passes, glistening rivers, tiny villages and incredible views. Lance and I arrived in Isurava Battle Site on ANZAC day and participated in the most memorable dawn service. Throughout the trip, our guides told us incredible tales of wartime courage, opening us to a part of our Dad’s history that we wouldn’t have known otherwise. This trip was one of my biggest challenges and one of my most special memories - enough so that I chose to name the company after it. Koda is short for Kokoda, it’s a nod to my Dad and it’s a place and story that I’m very proud of.
